Donald Abraham Ross

Donald A. Ross, 79 of Huntington, WV passed away on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Darrell Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Spurlock Cemetery, Wayne, WV.  He was born December 1, 1934 in Wayne, WV. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Ross, a special mother and father, who raised him, Kay and Tennessee Cooksey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Chatterton Ross, and a brother, Robert Ross. He worked for the Kenny Shoe Company and retired from Owens Illinois.  He was a member of the Western Star Lodge 11 A.F. & A.M. and was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of American Legion Post 177, Barboursville, Moose Lodge and the DAV. Don was an avid steel guitar player, very talented on the bass and banjo and enjoyed performing with his brothers over the years. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Nate Anderson of Barboursville; a son, Dwane Ross of Barboursville, two grandchildren, Madalyn Cooper and Jordan Ross; a brother, Bill Ross of Teays Valley, WV; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dennis Stonestreet of Glasgow, WV and several nieces and nephews.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.beardmortuary.com.
