Donald C. Elmore, 81, of Barboursville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 with the Rev. Andrew Magnusson and Mr. Bill Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born November 27, 1925, a son of the late Harry Sr. and Theresa McQuade Elmore. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chris Elmore; one brother, Harry Elmore, Jr. and one sister, Mary Lewis. He was a member and deacon at Baptist Temple Church, Huntington, a veteran of the US Navy during WWII, an employee at the Herald-Dispatch for 29 years, a former attendant at Beard Mortuary and a lifetime member of the VFW in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Betty Chapman Elmore; one daughter, Kim Adkins and her husband, Kevin; one brother, Thomas Elmore and his wife Sara of Chesapeake, OH; two grandchildren, Jason Legg and his fiancé, April Smith of Huntington and Natalie Lindsey and her husband, Josh of Huntington; two great grandchildren, Haylee Dawn Lindsey and Jadyn Nicole Lindsey; four nephews; and his beloved extended family, LuAnn Hapney, Jane Browning, Dianne Hoover and Ann Turley and their families. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
