Deloris A. Baisden

November 9, 1945 — July 17, 2007

Deloris Baisden, of Lesage, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital after a long illness.  Funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007 at Cox Landing United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Holcomb, Rev. Rick Brown, and Rev. Jerry Ryder officiating.  Entombment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.  She was born in Huntington, WV a daughter of Ruth E. Thomas of Lesage, WV and the late James "Buster" Thomas.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 43 years, Leon Baisden; two children, David Baisden and wife, Susan of Huntington and Tanya A. Hill and husband, Ron of Milton; five special grandchildren, Megan, Merideht, and Josh Baisden of Huntington and Cassie and Shelby Hill of Milton.  She was blessed with four loving sisters and one brother, Marla White and husband, Rossie of Lesage, Donna Pinkerman and husband, John of Lesage, Karen Losee and husband, Tommy of Brandenton, FL, Cheryl Ryder and husband, Jerry of Huntington, James Thomas and wife, Pam of Huntington, and a special sister-in-law, Shirley Edmunds and husband, Morris of Milton.  She was loved by a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  Deloris was a retired elementary school principal.  She retired in 2001 from the Cabell County Board of Education after thirty four years of service.  Recently she was the recipient of the Leonard Jarrett Award given by the Lions of West Virginia Sight Foundation.  She was a dedicated member of Cox Landing United Methodist Church where she served as Choir Director for over 35 years.  Directing the choir was her passion.  She took great joy in spending countless hours preparing and directing music to Praise her Lord.  Pallbearers will be Brent Ryder, Matt Ryder, Wayne Messinger, James Lossee, Scott White, Hop White, and Jimmy Thomas.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Huntington City Mission.  Visitation will be at Cox Landing United Methodist Church, Friday, July 20,2007 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com.
