David Albert Davis, 79 of Huntington passed away at his home on Monday, January 22nd, 2024. He was born February 19th, 1944 in Huntington, a son of the late Melvin Ernest and Marquerite Bellville Davis. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Robert, Richard, Gary, and Joe Davis. He was a 1962 graduate of Huntington High School. He served in the US army as a SP4, participated in Operation "Attleboro" and was stationed in Saigon during the Vietnam War with the 25th infantry division, earning an honorable discharge in 1969. He earned his BA in History from Marshall University in 1978. He spent most of his life working as a concrete lab technician with The Department of Highways. In his spare time, he was an avid traveler having traveled to all 50 states and several countries. He enjoyed antique cars and most of all, motorcycles. He was an avid motorcycle rider and traveled often times with a special friend, Jerry Lockhart. He also loved watching Jeopardy with a friend who preceded him in death, Johnny Warf. Finally, he enjoyed spending mornings at the local Hardees in West Huntington with many special friends talking about family, traveling, and life in general. He is survived by his former wife of 23 years, Rebecca Ann Davis, of Willow Wood, OH, his son, David Horton Davis, of Columbus, OH, a daughter-in-law, Kelly Marie Burns Davis, and finally a special grandson, Karsen Ray Davis who took a special interest in his motorcycles. A graveside service will be held at the Abbey of Peace, Woodmere Cemetery, Monday, January 29th, 2024 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Huntington Humane Society, or St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee as you prefer.
