Obituary

Our hearts are broken from the devastating loss of our beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, Craig Michael Dickson who suddenly and unexpectedly left his earthly home and walked confidently into the arms of his heavenly father on April 20, 2026. Craig was born Feb 11,1948 in Htgn, WVa to parents Lois Jan Kahle Dickson and Roy Earl Dickson.

His well lived life included playing many sports from childhood through adulthood, including baseball, basketball and golf. From a very young age he showed exceptional athletic ability in baseball, from jumping in with the older kids in playground baseball, to little league, Babe Ruth, high school for Huntington East, and during his college years he played in center field for Marshall University. Following that he played several years of summer league ball. He then transitioned to many years of successful softball play with longtime friends from baseball. Craig was an accomplished golfer for many years, highlighted by at least 2-3 holes in one as a member of Spring Valley CC. He was also a talented basketball player beginning with the YMCA buddy basketball league to Beverly Hills Jr. High and then a 3 year starter at Huntington East High.

Rounding out his athletic endeavors he was also an excellent bowler, as he participated in several leagues, highlighted by achieving at least one perfect 300 game. Most recently Craig looked forward to his weekly golf game with regular golfing buddies usually dressed in unique colorful attire.

While at Marshall he met and married his beloved wife of 56 yrs, Mary Lou White on August 29,1969. He graduated from Marshall University in 1971. He also served in the Army Reserves. Craig worked for INCO, retiring after about 46 years of dedication.

In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by nephews, Bradley Curtis McNeer, Shay Cassidy, and Brian Weinberger. Together, Craig and Mary Lou have two sons, Matthew (Carrie) Roy and Brandon Michael; two granddaughters who were the light of his life, Marleigh and Saylor Dickson of Chesapeake, OH; best friend and brother, Dean (Karen) of Huntington; his adoring sister, Sue Ann Dickson (McNeer) of Richmond, VA; sister-in-law, Susie Weinberger; nieces and nephews, Andy, Reagan, and Connor McNeer, Ainsley and Ann Curtis McNeer, Brad and Reed McNeer, Kristen Cassidy, Andrew, Luke, Grant, Max, Caroline and Cassidy Zban, Alexandria Watts-Cassidy and Taylor Cassidy; and also a special favorite in his "grand dog" Charlie.

Craig, "Daddy", was the loving, supportive, caring leader of our family, and leaves us with a cavernous hole in our hearts. He had a unique ability to light up the room upon entering and could always be counted on to be the life of any party or gathering, and his presence in the community will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Craig's Life will be held on Monday, April 27th from 6-9pm (at 7pm - brief remarks, with opening to anyone that would like to share a story or experience about Craig) at Creekside Golf Course Restaurant, 400 Royal Birkdale Drive, Lavalette. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marshall baseball program: Big Green Scholarship Foundation, Craig Dickson Memorial, P.O. Box 1360, Htgn, WV 25715 or call 304-696-3312. Please leave an online condolence for Craig’s family on his guestbook.
