Cora Lee Simmons

Cora Lee Simmons, 85, of Huntington went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center.  Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Madison Avenue Church of God, Huntington with the Rev. Charles Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.  She was born September 27, 1924 in Teays Valley, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph and Amber Eskew Skeens.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curt B. Simmons.  Mrs. Simmons was a life member of the Madison Avenue Church of God as well as a member of the Women of the Church of God.  She is survived by one son, James B. "Jim" Simmons of Huntington; one daughter, Nancy Simmons of Huntington; one sister, Dorothy Reed of Frederick, MD and several nieces and nephews.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at the church, 1201 Madison Ave; Huntington.  Beard Mortuary, Huntington is in charge of arrangements.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Madison Ave. Church of God.  Online condolences may be sent at www.beardmortuary.com.
