Charles "Bill" William Gates, Jr.

Charles "Bill" William Gates, Jr., 73 of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 in Huntington. He was born February 2, 1951 in Atlanta, GA to the late Charles William and Mary Ellen (Beard) Gates.

Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1969 to 1972. He married D. Sharon Gates on March 26, 1982 in Pearisburg, VA and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Bill had a long-term career, until his retirement, with the United States Postal Service. He was an avid football fan of Marshall University, West Virginia University and the Cleveland Browns. He was also a member of Elks Lodge 313.

He is survived by his wife, D. Sharon Gates; sister, Ellen (Kerry) Winkler; brother, Michael (Debra) Gates and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM, with a Funeral Service and Military Honors by the American Legion Post #16 to follow at 1 PM, all at Beard Mortuary.
