Charles D. Cooper

Charles D. Cooper, 79 of Huntington, passed peacefully on February 17th, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 26th, 1946 in Huntington at St. Mary's Hospital, to the late Laymon Franklin and Clara Mae Cooper.

Charles married Sheila H. Luthy on August 6th, 1965 and they enjoyed 59 years together before his passing. He was a member of the Glaziers Union and was a Proprietor of Cooper's Glass Service since 1990. He coached youth sports, was a member of the Moose Lodge Bowling Team and enjoyed camping at Shady Waters Campground, playing cards with many friends and watching his grandkids play multiple sports.

Charles is survived by his wife, Sheila H. Cooper of Huntington; his three children and their spouses, Michael (Debra) Cooper, Terri Acker and Charleaha (Kerry) Arthur, all of Huntington; 9 grandchildren, Corey Cooper, Thea Thompson, Sean Acker, Kaytlin Hutchison, Justin Arthur, Mackenzie Acker, Cole Cooper, Jaydin Arthur and Garrin Arthur and 17 great grandchildren and counting! He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Knight and Linda Griffin; brother, Laymon "Buddy" Cooper and 22 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Beard Mortuary. The family will greet friends beforehand from 5 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of the following: Huntington High School Athletic Boosters: Wrestling and Softball or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
