Carolyn Ann (Mitchell) Miller

Carolyn Ann Miller, 83, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born on December 19, 1940, in Hurricane, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Mitchell and Velma Fisher Mitchell. Carolyn spent her career at Marshall University, where she worked in the Printing and Graphic Arts Department. She was a staunch supporter of Marshall University and its athletic programs. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Billy M. Miller, three brothers, Ronnie, Harold Lee, and Ivan, as well as her granddaughter, Felicia Rose. She is survived by her siblings June Shy, Jack Sowards (Lu), Margaret  (Jim)Jefferson , Mary Call, Connie Williams, Shirley (Randy) Shephard, Paul (Tammy) Sowards Her legacy is one of unwavering of love and support for her four children: Donna Call, Larry Cooper, Edward (Stacy) Sowards, and Mark (Ginger) Sowards. Her grandchildren include Heather (Kevin), Brittney (Greg) Edward Jr. (Destiny), Mason and seven great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Xavier, Christopher, Khloe, Khase, Kaiden, and Oliver.

In recognition of Carolyn's steadfast support for Marshall University, we kindly invite all to wear apparel bearing Marshall University insignia as a gesture of respect and appreciation for decades-long dedication to the institution. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 Noon on Saturday, September 7, 2024 with a Funeral Service to follow at 12 Noon, both at Beard Mortuary. Burial will follow the services at Arthur Cemetery in Ona, WV.
