Mr. Bill Cyrus, 89 of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church (Huntington), with the Reverend Raymond J. Hage officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.
He was born May 25, 1937, in Huntington, the son of the late Homer Clay Cyrus and Marcella Louise Cyrus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Aaron L. Dickey.
Bill graduated from Huntington East High School. He served in the Naval Reserve and was active in the church serving two terms as the Senior Warden at St. John’s Episcopal Church. He had a multifaceted career as a business owner and financial planner excelling in both fields.
Bill had many admirable qualities that helped him succeed in life, his strong devotion and faith along with his unwavering morals and principles made him an outstanding member of the community. He showed his compassion and generosity in many ways, helping those less fortunate than he. Bill’s legacy lives on not only through his family but through the countless lives he touched with his generosity, steady presence, and quiet wisdom.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Monica L. Dawson and Dr. G. Stephen Dawson of Barboursville, WV, and son, Robert C. Cyrus of Union, KY. Survivors also include four grandchildren, Katherine M. Dawson of Grove City, OH and Michael C. Dawson of Beckly, WV, Chandler C. Cyrus of Covington, KY and Payton R. Cyrus of Union, KY; great grandchildren, Kennedy R. Latta and Vanessa J. Cyrus; sister, Sharon L. Weed and brothers-in-law Frank F. (Lorrain), Charles C. Dickey (Patty), and three nephews, Michael, Gregory and Joseph Weed.
