Betty L. Smith

BETTY L. (FRYE) SMITH, 71, of Huntington, WV, wife of Fred B. Smith, passed away May 24, 2007, in Hospice of Huntington.  She was the daughter of Ruby P. Frye and the late George W. Frye.  Betty was a graduate of Man High School in Logan County, WV, and received a B.S. with Honors in Science Education from Marshall University in 1957 and taught 7th and 8th Grade Science at Beverly Hills Junior High in Huntington. She was an active alumnae of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.  She also organized reunions for Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity for decades and was named Pi Kappa Alpha Dream Girl for Life. Betty had two sisters, both deceased: Linda L. Frye and Judith A. Frye and is survived by three children:  Bill Smith of Orlando, FL; Lynne Logan of Columbus, OH; and David Smith of Huntington, WV; a son-in-law Anthony Logan; daughter-in-law Daphne Bowman; three grandchildren: Chris Thompson; Baxter Duncan; and Devin Smith; and two step-grandchildren: Brittanay and Caitlin Bowman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The visitation and funeral services will be at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Norway Avenue. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007; Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007.  Burial will follow in WoodmereMemorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to Huntington Hospice in Betty's name.
