Betty Jane Smailes

Betty Jane Smailes, 85 of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully on Friday August 22, 2014 at Woodlands Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Joseph Hill officiating. The family will receive friends after 1:00 p.m. She was born September 8, 1928 in Lookout, WV the daughter of the late Guy and Goldie Amick Douglas. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Smailes, Sr. and three sisters, Isabell Surratt, Kathryn Perkins and Louise Douglas. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church and the Huntington Order of Eastern Star Chapter 8. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George T. Smailes, Jr and Jean Smailes and Richard C. and Lee Smailes all of Huntington; three grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Thomas of Huntington; Laura Beth Smailes of Charlotte, NC and George "Tommy" Smailes of Huntington; four great grandchildren and a several nieces and nephews.
