Obituary

On the 6th day of June, Barbara Hedrick was summoned to the presence of her Lord and reunited with her beloved husband, Edward Clay "Bub" Hedrick, and infant daughter, Cynthia Lynn.

Barbara was born on October 14, 1938, to John B. Rice and Hester Ann (Mills) Rice, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carlos D. Rice and John Ray Rice.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Rice Myers and her husband, Melvin Myers.

Barbara was born and raised in the small, blue-collar neighborhood of Altizer, where she and Bub made their home. Although her roots remained firmly planted there, Barbara and Bub traveled extensively throughout their lives, visiting every state in the Union.

Additionally, she is survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return.

To those who knew her, Barbara was much more than a daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. She was a counselor, a safe haven, a source of strength and wisdom, and a loyal friend. She lived her life striving toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV)
