Archer W. Vinson

Archer W. Vinson, 87, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center on May 2, 2007.  Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with Mr. Norman Stickler officiating.  Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.  Born in Wayne County, WV on September 19, 1919, he was the son of the late Fred and Ruby Vinson.  He was also preceded in death by one brother, Irvin Vinson and three sisters, Mildred Wilson, Virginia Larson and Kathryn Vinson.  He was employed by the US Postal Service for over 30 years and served in the US Navy for six years from 1939 to 1945.  During that time, he met and married his wife of 63 years, Hazel Vinson, who passed away in August of 2000.  He is survived by one son, David Vinson and one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Raymond Webb; two brothers, Chad Vinson and Eugene Vinson; one sister, Elizabeth Roberts; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the mortuary.
