Alice F. Cartte

Alice F. Cartte, of Woodlands Retirement Community died Monday, August 25, 2008.  Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with the Rev. Ronald Brooks and the Rev. Julia Bolling officiating.  Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.  She was born July 30, 1908 in Logan County, WV a daughter of the late Mary and George Altizer.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chauncey H. Cartte and one daughter, Mary Alice Basham.  Alice was a retired elementary school teacher for Cabell County and a longtime member of Guyandotte United Methodist Church.  She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Evelyn Cartte of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Aaron, Tracy and Charles; six great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Arthur Sammons.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guyandotte United Methodist Church.
