Aaron Henderson Smith

AARON HENDERSON SMITH, 88, of Huntington, WV died on October 11, 2011 at the Charleston Area medical Center in Charleston, WV. He was born on August 10, 1923 in Pilgrim, KY, a son of Clell and Myrtle Burgett Smith. In addition to his parents he was preced in death by his loving wife LoRayne Phillips Smith; two sisters, Virginia Stuart of Chatteroy, WV and Fannie Mae Eaton of Brunswick, GA; son-in-law, Patrick "Rock" Lipscomb of Barboursville. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Metalsmith SV6 USNR. He retired from the city of Huntington after 25 years with the water treatment plant. He is survived by a sister, Sada Brotman of Tacoma Park, MD; children Aaron C. (Becky) Smith of Columbus, Oh, Donna Lipscomb of Barboursville, WV, Elaine (David) Strickland of Elkview, WV and Tom Smith of Barboursville, WV; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was blessed with wonderful neighbors and loving caregivers, Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Strickland, Chase & Chris Strickland & Mr. & Mrs. Ken Pinnell. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:30 PM at the Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance with his grandsons, Bejamin Stinespring and Justin Lipscomb delivering his eulogy & military rites by the honor guard.
