Sarah “Betsy” Elizabeth Black Schofield, 71, of Huntington, passed away on April 26, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born on February 12, 1946 in Huntington, she was a daughter of the late Cecil H. Black and Virginia Ethel Shipe Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene Schofield and her loving sister, Mary Sue Black Perry. Betsy enjoyed going to her sons baseball games as he grew up and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren any chance she got. She was a wonderful, loving and giving mom and cherished her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Jesse (Retha) Mannon; step-daughter, Leanna (Charles) Ruley; sister, Barbara Finley; grandchildren, Kenzee Mannon, Jamie and Jeremy Ruley; nephew, Daniel Gene Black; niece, Angelia Jo Cook; great-niece, Mandy (Quinton) McQuaid Tyree; great-nephews, Nick McQuaid and Joseph Cook whom she loved dearly, and one great nurse, Beth Covert who was very helpful to the family in Betsy’s final hours. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 1st, 2017 at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Larry Bailey, officiating. Mausoleum Entombment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services.
