As a youth, I attended the wedding of Lowell and Lois never knowing the love story which would follow. In recent years, I enjoyed his stories of his youth and of my grandparents and aunt. I have also honored him for giving up his father to our grateful nation in 1944. We often forget that it is not just our men and women in uniform who have sacrificed for our freedom, but also the widows, parents, siblings and children such as Lowell who were left without fathers. My condolences to his daughters and their families and I trust the great memories will assuage the grief he has left behind.
